It occurred to me that technology advances are to make life easier, to free up one’s time for other activities.
For me the use of technology should give me more free time to play. Continue reading

The pushing and stretching of the EDCMOOC. Other’s post have such a creative view of the class and are able to use technology to create their art. I am still old school and attempting to get up to speed with all of the technology to be able to communicate my ideas. Continue reading
The third edcmooc is nearing its end now. I tried to get a grip of the facilitating process during this MOOC. It was not easy and perhaps I have to stop trying. Continue reading
What other lenses can we use to analize particular kind of vision which is presented, suggested or implied by the author ot the text, video etc.? What tools can help us to be more aware readers or recipients of information? How can we protect ourselves from manipulation or false objectivity wich can influence our own objectivity…
Continue reading
My purpose is to continue my discussion about network facilitation. During the last weeks I have tried to do some facilitating operations in edcmooc. We have a lot of people there and they come from 154 countries and and I cannot imagine their motivations or interests. Continue reading
Elearning and Digital Cultures, EDCMOOC, is taking place for the third time. And I am there, participating again. I was very pleased when Christine Sinclair sent me an email and asked if I could act as a Community Teaching Assistant, CTA, this time. Continue reading
Reasserting human is the theme of week 3 in edcmooc. I am interested in the different ways of being present on the internet, not only technologies used but human interaction. This post copies some ideas of my blog post a year ago when the first edcmooc began. Continue reading
In The Jetsons, autonomous robots are not feared. Continue reading
Continue reading
The Matrix trilogy offers a clear dystopian perspective on technology. What’s interesting about these films is that they focus this perspective on an ever-growing aspect of technology: robotics.
There are several recent instances in the news about “autonomous” robots. Continue reading |
Nick Bostrom’s Transhumanist Values struck me as both naive and short-sighted. I suppose it’s not really his piece in particular, but the philosophy in general. Continue reading
After reading the recommended texts supporting Week 1’s theme of “Looking to the Past”, I found that I most connected with the Perspectives on Education section. This is likely because of my training and experience as an educator, and many of the issues that were mentioned were the focus of discussions when I was in grad school. Continue reading
Watching Bendito Machine III, I was struck by several observations. As the character scales the mountain to obtain the desired machine, I couldn’t help but think of the fact that he was struggling parallels many experiences Americans have in affording new technological devices. Continue reading
Both Robbie and Gumdrop featured societies with robots as autonomous members of society. The films made me consider what a future with these autonomous members would be like. Continue reading
He estat 5 setmanes submergit en un curs telemàtic ofert per la Universitat d’Edimburgh i la plataforma Coursera.org titulat “eLearning and Digital Cultures”. Continue reading
After a few failed attempts (happy to be human!), I finally feel quite comfortable with my final Digital Artifact. It’s a short animation. Continue reading
After publishing my final assigment Digital Artifact for the eLearning and Digital Culture MOOC, I decided to try and provide a background of the creation process. These are some ideas I think are closely related:
In both the videos from Corning and Microsoft, education is presented as being interactive. In the Corning video, the educational content is presented very graphically and allows the students to engage in the material along with the teacher. Continue reading
I will primarily comment on the posting by Shirky and subsequent comment by Bady. I found the topic of MOOCs as the future of higher education quite interesting because it relates directly to my own academic experiences. Continue reading
I found that the visual similarities between Bendito Machine III and New Media were traits that could be found in many dystopic scenes about media consumption. The was a heavy use of darkness and contrast to imply a more sinister story. Continue reading
I like to think of Inbox as a utopian account because while the two characters might possibly have met without possessing the bags (clearly a metaphor for e-mail/online personas), they were brought together because of them. This opportunity was created because of the democratizing nature of the technology (in this case, magical bags). Continue reading
I think that the film is presenting several messages about technology:
I started week 1 a bit late (in week 2). Being my first experience of a MOOC I was unsure what to expect but it quickly became clear that the self paced get out what you put in approach would suit me.
I signed up for this course a few months ago and I am eager to get going on it! I am going to use this blog to post about my learning. I consider myself an early adapter in the digital world, however, I know I have a LOT to learn about e-learning. Continue reading
my first mooc experience – sorting all these online sites….. so many passwords I’ll forget them all! and I managed to post a Tweet to the right site
First experience of a twitter chat, feel a bit behind as so many people seem to know what they are doing.. Some folk have offered useful links to what can be done on twitter so they are pinned for future use..
